Michael Douglas' son Cameron has been granted permission to move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

Cameron Douglas has been on parole for the past seven years and has been unable to leave the state of New York without permission.

However, on Wednesday (18Oct17), Judge Richard Berman ruled that Cameron can move to California to live with his famous grandfather Kirk Douglas in a bid to jump start his acting career.

Douglas will leave New York on 1 November (17) and return between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the birth of his first child with girlfriend Viviane Thibes.

In July, 2016, Cameron was released to a halfway house after serving more than six years in prison for drug offenses. He was initially sentenced to a five year prison term for possessing heroin and selling other drugs in 2010, but his sentence was increased after he confessed to smuggling illegal substances into jail.

In April (17), he was found to have marijuana in his system, but he has been maintaining his sobriety since.

According to the New York Post's Page Six, he will continue his treatment in Los Angeles.
