Cameron Diaz supports axed X Factor star Cheryl Cole

Cameron Diaz is convinced Simon Cowell was "wrong" to fire Cheryl Cole from The X Factor.

The Hollywood beauty appears alongside Cole in upcoming movie What To Expect When You're Expecting, with the singer playing a music judge on a fictionalised TV talent show.

The British pop star appeared in a similar role on the U.K.'s The X Factor before Cowell axed her from the show last year (11) after she failed to make an impact on audiences and TV executives, but Diaz feels the music mogul made a mistake.

Appearing at the London premiere of the movie on Tuesday (22May12), she tells Associated Press, "She's so great, she's lovely. She had such a great energy. What she did was really a favor to us because there wasn't a lot for her to do, but there was a lot of ad-libbing. She just kept the energy up. She was a lot of fun."

Glee's Matthew Morrison, who also stars in the movie, says, "Going on how she was a judge on our show, I thought she was great. They had her ad lib a lot and she just came up with all these great lines. So I think they got it wrong," while Cameron adds, "Yeah, me too."
