Bush fan deported over alleged break-in
A Kate Bush fan has been deported from Britain after he allegedly broke into the star's home planning to propose to her.
American Frank Tufaro flew to the U.K. last year (11) and was carrying a diamond engagement ring when he allegedly broke a window and entered the singer's country mansion in Devon, England.
The Wuthering Heights star was not home at the time of the incident
and Tufaro subsequently fled to a nearby property, where neighbors
called emergency services.
A police team and a helicopter unit was deployed and the 32 year
old was arrested.
He was detained under the country's Mental Health Act and last week
(ends08Jan11), he was deported by U.K. Border Agency officials, who
accompanied him to New York and handed him over to officers of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to the Daily Mail.
Tufaro tells the publication he didn't intend to enter the singer's
home, but wanted to escape the cold weather.
He says, "I was inside for about eight minutes before I realized I
had to leave. I just walked around and looked at everything. It
wasn't what I expected... It was freezing cold, it was dark and I
felt like I had nowhere to go. I didn't have a clue where I was and
was convinced I was going to die there, it was so bitter and cold.
I've never broken the law in my life and decided to break a window
pane and let myself in so I wouldn't freeze to death.
A statement from the U.K. Border Agency reads, "A 32-year-old man
was removed from the U.K. to the United States on January 6. The
incident which led to his arrest is purely a police matter."
