BUJU BANTON PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO DRUG CHARGES

Reggae star Buju Banton has pleaded not guilty to drug charges.

The singer was arraigned on Thursday (07Jan10) on a charge of conspiring to buy more than five kilograms of cocaine from an undercover law enforcement officer in Sarasota last month (Dec09).

An attorney representing the 36-year-old star, real name Mark Myrie, insists his client is innocent and will not be seeking a deal.

Buju Banton is currently being held in federal custody in Tampa, Florida.
