Bruno Mars joins Missy Elliott in the studio

Bruno Mars and Missy Elliott have teamed up in the studio for an exciting new top secret project.

The rapper posted a snap of herself with the Gorilla singer on Twitter, sending fans into a frenzy.

An accompanying caption read: "Had a blast vibing wit my fam @BrunoMars @ the studio! GoodVibes He got some! He such a rare gem (sic)!"

It's still not clear if the pair is working on new material for Mars' upcoming new album or Elliott's comeback release.

The two stars have both hit the stage at the Super Bowl half-time show in recent years - Bruno headlined in 2014 and returned to join Coldplay and Beyonce in February (16), while Missy launched her comeback by joining Katy Perry on the big stage last year (15).

Bruno's third album, his follow-up to 2012's Unorthodox Jukebox, is set for release later this year (16).
