Britney Spears video director calling for the release of full promo

The director of Britney Spears' new video is fighting to get gun scenes cut from the promo added to the final cut.

Joseph Kahn and Spears' new leading man Alexander Kjellevik have both revealed there's more to the Perfume video, but record company bosses opted to cut some controversial scenes, fearing that they were unsuitable for the pop star's younger fans.

In a tweet, Kahn has asked for the director's cut of the video to be released, insisting the Toxic singer's performance is "unbelievable".

He writes, "Wish they'd release the director's cut of #perfume. Britney's performance is unbelievable. A true artist in it. Game changer. Official cut is a good video as you'll soon see. But it's a true loss not to see what she really did. It's incredible. Beyond other artists."

And he's urging Spears' fans to get involved with his campaign, adding, "Maybe if your voice is loud enough they'll release it. But other than that, I just needed to tell the truth. Something amazing is waiting."

And Kjellevik adds, "There was a little bit more story... It's like a love story triangle... There's a whole story behind it and it's a shame you don't get to see the whole reason behind everything."

Responding to Kahn's tweet, one fan has set up an online petition calling for Spears' record company bosses to release the full version of the video. It already has over 12,500 signatures.
