Britney Spears shocks fan with tea and scones

Britney Spears surprised a fan by serving him afternoon tea at London's Savoy Hotel.

The Toxic singer was recruited by bosses of U.K. TV show Surprise Surprise, which shocks members of the public by making their dreams come true.

Spears fan James Colbourn thought he was being treated to afternoon tea at the posh hotel and was left speechless when he realised the waitress was actually his pop idol in disguise.

Spears donned the hotel's smart uniform and adopted an English accent as she brought Colbourn pots of tea and plates of scones with jam and clotted cream for the stunt.

A source tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "Britney was trained to hold the tray of scones. But she really got into it, wearing the uniform and using an English accent. She had fun with the butler too and it took a while for the guy to see it was Britney."

The pop star's surprise, which was filmed as part of the show's Christmas special, will be aired in the U.K. on Wednesday (18Dec13).

It is not the first time Spears has joined in a prank on a U.K. TV show - in October (13), she appeared on Alan Carr: Chatty Man to promote her new single Work B**ch!, and delighted the audience by re-enacting her whip-lashing antics from the track's promo.
