Britney Spears' outfit worn for a Japanese TV commercial she filmed in 1999 and a 'crystal piano' donated by pop star Yoshiki have become the big items going under the hammer as part of an online auction to raise funds for earthquake relief.
j-Grab Inc. and Yahoo! Japan have teamed up to stage the global charity auction, which began on Sunday (17Apr11), and two items have already emerged as big sellers.
Bidding for Spears' crop-top and trousers has hit $4,056 in a day, while offers for X Japan star Yoshiki's custom-made piano soared from $42,000 to $361,000 in just eight minutes. The bid has now reached over $1.2 million.
j-Grab Inc. bosses claim Marilyn Manson, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, James Franco and many others are also planning to contribute items to the ongoing celebrity auction.
All the proceeds will be donated to people in disaster areas in Japan.
