Brie Larson nearly missed Golden Globes win

Golden Globe winner Brie Larson almost missed her big moment at Sunday's (10Jan16) ceremony after taking a bathroom break right before her category was called.

The star reveals she was so desperate for the ladies' room, she had no choice but to ignore words of advice from both Helen Mirren and Kate Winslet, who urged her to hold off on the toilet run for just a few moments longer.

"All I remember is I needed to go to the bathroom," she told Entertainment Tonight backstage at the Los Angeles prizegiving. "I went to the bathroom and as I was leaving, Helen Mirren was like, 'Don't go right now. Your category is coming up.' And I said, 'No it's not. I've got like an hour to go.'

"Then Kate Winslet was like, 'Don't go right now.' I said, 'I have to. I still have an hour.' I wasn't looking at the clock, which was a big problem."

Luckily, Brie managed to make it back to her seat just in time - and she credits the big rush with helping to keep her nerves under control as she was named the winner of the Best Actress - Motion Picture Drama for Room.

"(It was) good because I didn't think about it," the 26-year-old said. "Bad, because I was about to reapply Chapstick (lip balm) and was like, 'Oh.'"

Chicago Hope star Christine Lahti famously missed her cue due to an inopportune bathroom break when she won the Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series back in 1998.
