Blake Shelton to receive road honor in native Oklahoma
A road in Blake Shelton's native Ada, Oklahoma is to be named in the country star's honor.
The Honey Bee hitmaker's career success will be celebrated at a block party on Tuesday (30Sep14) to mark the release of his new album, Bringing Back the Sunshine, and during the event, Mayor Bryan Morris will unveil a sign for Blake Shelton Boulevard.
Mayor Morris says, "I think this is a wonderful event. It's our
inaugural event for the Ada Arts District. Everyone's welcome,
there's a little bit for everyone to do so let's come out and
celebrate Ada's favorite son: Blake Shelton."
The singer won't be able to attend the bash in person, but his
mother, Dorothy Shackelford, insists he is flattered by the
honor.
In a message to local fans, she says, "Blake thanks you, and I
thank you, and I know we're gonna have a good time. He's very
excited about this festival and that y'all are doing this and
recognising him."
