Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson are teaming to honor members of the military at a special concert in Chicago, Illinois.

The gig, which makes up part of the 2017 Department of Defense Warrior Games, will take place at the aptly named Soldier Field on 1 July (17) and will kickstart the Paralympics-style competition, which features wounded service members and veterans.

"The men and women that serve and protect this country on a daily basis allow the rest of us the freedoms we enjoy," Shelton tells Taste of Country. "I'm proud to be part of this event and root these heroes on to victory at this year’s Warrior Games."

Blake and Kelly will reteam next year (18) on TV talent show The Voice and the Honey Bee singer admits he's stocking up on earplugs for Clarkson's debut on the show.

"I used to think that (fellow coach) Miley Cyrus would be the person that talks the most ever in the history of this show, but now that they brought in Kelly Clarkson... Oh my God! Thank God they’re at least on different seasons because my ears would fall off of my head. There would be no oxygen left in the room. Neither one of them could stop talking."

Cyrus rejoins the talent show later this year (17).
