BILLY CORGAN HITS OUT AT JOHN MAYER OVER JESSICA SIMPSON

Jessica Simpson's rumoured love interest Billy Corgan has taken aim at her ex John Mayer over remarks he made about the pop star's sexual prowess in a racy Playboy magazine article.

John Mayer spoke candidly his sex life with Jesscia Simpson, comparing her to "sexual napalm" - and has since reached out to apologise to her after the comments hit the headlines.

Jessica Simpson has refused John Mayer's personal apology, recently admitting she is "disappointed by the article".

And now The Smashing Pumpkins frontman has leaped to her defence, insisting John Mayer should have kept his mouth shut.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I think for any person, who has celebrity, to sort of drop rocks at somebody else's feet like that, there’s things you should really just keep your mouths shut on. There's things that should just be left alone."

Billy Corgan also cautions John Mayer about speaking to the media so candidly, insisting it could destroy his career.

As if to prove the point, the rocker refused to confirm or deny reports he's dating Jessica Simpson in the same interview.

Instead he said, "If people knew her like I knew her, they would love her like I do" - a remark Simpson has already responded to, stating. "I can't find good enough words to speak about Billy."
