Beyonce smiles in rare snap with dad Mathew

Beyonce posed for a rare picture alongside her father Mathew Knowles at her concert in Houston, Texas, last week (07May16).

The 34-year-old singer has a strained relationship with Mathew, who managed her career for many years until he was fired in 2011. Following the release of Beyonce's most recent album Lemonade, fans speculated that some of the lyrics in the songs, which center on broken relationships and forgiveness, may be referring to her father.

Mathew then said people shouldn't wonder about the inspiration for the tracks. And it seems the pair has put any trouble in their relationship behind them, as they smiled for a picture taken by Beyonce's mother Tina as the singer took her Formation World Tour to her home town of Houston.

Tina then shared the snap on Instagram, alongside the caption: "Houston Concert proud dad!!!!"

Mathew and Tina split in 2009, with their divorce finalized in 2011. Tina went on to marry Poltergeist actor Richard Lawson last year (15).

Many gossips suggested Lemonade features lines which point to the fact that Beyonce's husband Jay Z may have cheated on her, and in the lead up to one song, the spoken word the superstar recites draws comparisons between the rap mogul and her father, who was unfaithful to Tina during their marriage.

"You remind me of my father, a magician," she says. "Able to exist in two places at once. In the tradition of men in my blood, you come home at 3am and lie to me. What are you hiding?"

But Mathew refused to comment on the meaning behind the lyrics.

"I know the response you want to get," he said during an appearance on SiriusXM Progress' Make It Plain show last month (Apr16). "You're not going to get that response."

Instead, the father-of-four spoke of his pride, adding, "I am so proud of Beyonce, because that means the body of work that she did has made that type of impact on the market place. Everybody's talking about it, everybody's tweeting about it."
