Beyonce's Lemonade lawsuit dismissed

Beyonce has scored a legal victory in her Lemonade lawsuit after a judge dismissed a filmmaker's plagiarism claim against her.

The Crazy in Love hitmaker surprised her fans with a TV special back in April (16), when she debuted the short film that accompanied her new album.

Days later, director Matthew Fulks alleged the promo for Lemonade featured a number of images similar to those he used for his short movie Palinoia, which he released in 2014.

Among the scenes he took issue with were those featured in the clip for Don't Hurt Yourself, in which Beyonce stands in front of a graffiti-covered wall in a dimly lit parking lot. He also alleged close up images of "overgrown grass" and footage shot with a red tint were rip-offs of his own work.

Fulks, stated his film detailed a "tumultuous relationship" - just like the one Beyonce sings about in Lemonade - and went on to allege a senior vice president at Beyonce's Columbia Records label, who viewed Palinoia in 2015, may have lifted ideas for the singer's project, when filming began.

He named Beyonce and executives at Columbia as defendants, and was seeking a cut of the album's profits.

Last month (Jul16), the superstar's legal team filed a motion arguing the two films have nothing to do with each other and urged the judge to dismiss the lawsuit.
