Beyonce has won a Peabody Award for her visual album Lemonade.

The Drunk in Love hitmaker's album is being recognized in the entertainment category and will be feted in the Peabody Awards' inaugural Peabody 30, which honors programming in news, radio/podcast, web and public service.

"Lemonade draws from the prolific literary, musical, cinematic, and aesthetic sensibilities of black cultural producers to create a rich tapestry of poetic innovation," a statement from Peabody bosses reads. "The audacity of its reach and fierceness of its vision challenges our cultural imagination, while crafting a stunning and sublime masterpiece about the lives of women of color and the bonds of friendship seldom seen or heard in American popular culture."

Atlanta, Better Things, Happy Valley, Horace and Pete, National Treasure, and Veep are also among the winners in the category.

The prizes will be presented at a New York ceremony, which actress Rashida Jones will host on 20 May (17). The Peabody Awards are organized by officials at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
