Azealia Banks cancels U.K. festival dates
Azealia Banks has cancelled all her upcoming British festival dates so the rising rapper can spend more time working on her debut album.
The hip-hop star, who performed at Coachella in California this month (Apr12), was due to play a number of shows in the U.K. over the summer (12) including appearances at the Lovebox festival in London, The Parklife Weekender in Manchester, Rockness in Scotland, and a headline slot at Rough Beats in North Yorkshire.
However, her management team has now confirmed Banks will be
spending her summer in the studio instead.
A statement, obtained by Digital Spy, reads, "A decision has been
made by her new management that she needs to get back into the
studio and invest more time on her forthcoming debut album Broke
With Expensive Taste."
Rough Beats festival organiser Mike McSherry says, "It would have
been her first major headlining show in the U.K. and we were pretty
chuffed about getting in there early and backing her to be a great
act even before her debut releases.
"I think her management have made the right decision. As great as
her Coachella performance was, the U.K. audience is going to need
more than half hour of material from a headliner."
