Avril Lavigne founds summer camp for children with disabilities
Singer Avril Lavigne has founded a summer program for children with disabilities.
The Keep Holding On hitmaker is giving kids with special needs the chance to make the most of their school break by launching CAMP Summer Time Avril Rock Stars (Camp S.T.A.R.S) at five different locations across the country this summer (13), including one in her native Canada.
The pop star's charity, The Avril Lavigne Foundation, will also
provide scholarships to 50 youngsters in need of financial
assistance.
Opening up about the new venture, the pop star says, "I loved going
to camp as a kid. Being able to participate in fun activities and
make new friends was a great feeling that inspired the vision I had
for The Avril Lavigne Foundation. So I'm thrilled we will be able
to provide the opportunity for kids to go to camp who otherwise
might not be able to afford it."
