Ashley Greene bonds with real-life CBGB character

Twilight star Ashley Greene has befriended the person she plays in upcoming nightclub biopic Cbgb so she can capture her "tough" New Yorker personality.

The Florida native is set to play Lisa Kristal, the daughter of the fabled Big Apple punk hotspot owner Hilly Kristal, in the much-anticipated project, which begins production in Georgia later this month (Jun12), and nervous Greene admits she's reached out to the real Kristal for research purposes, revealing the two have been getting to know one another over video chat program Skype.

She tells E! News, "It's a little nerve-racking to play someone who existed, who's a real person that's still alive. You're like, 'Oh, they can yell at me if I do a bad job!' But it's going to be cool to get to talk to her about it (film) and (learn about) personal experiences from her. I get to Skype with (Lisa) on Sunday (24Jun12)! I'm really excited about that... She's kind of amazing."

And the 25 year old just hopes she can do her fiery character justice.

She adds, "It's going to be a fun adventure for me because I haven't really played someone who is that tough yet. I want to make sure I get it right without making her... she's not a b**ch! She's just very... she's a New Yorker. They have a specific personality and air about them. They're survivors."

CBGB, which hosted a slew of punk and new wave artists in its heyday - including Blondie and The B-52's, closed in 2006 after 33 years. Greene's father in the biopic will be played by Alan Rickman.
