Ariana Grande open to country music crossover

Pop star Ariana Grande would be open to crossing over into country music in honor of her grandfather.

The 23-year-old has had a number of pop hits including Dangerous Woman, Problem and Love Me Harder but has revealed would be happy to venture into the country music market if the right opportunity presented itself.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about possible future career moves, Ariana revealed, "My grandpa, he always wanted me to do something in the country world. I don't know if that would ever happen. If that opportunity, when it comes along, I'd have to say, 'Hell yeah!'"

Although she admits to not being a country music aficionado, Ariana said she gained an interest in the genre due to listening to female country three-piece Dixie Chicks as a child.

"I remember when I was younger driving along with my dad in the car and listening to a lot of Dixie Chicks," she shared. "My dad was a really big Dixie Chicks fan."

However Ariana said she wasn't quite ready to make the move to country just yet as she added, "I definitely need to do more country music homework."

The star may be able to do some research during her downtime on her Dangerous Woman tour, which begins in Phoenix, Arizona in February next year (17). Ariana will travel across North America before finishing her trek in April (17) in Orlando, Florida, with further international dates due to be added.

In December (16) Ariana is set to appear in Hairspray Live!, taking on the role of Penny Pingleton in TV network NBC's annual pre-Christmas musical treat.
