Angelina Jolie has been forced to pull out of promotional duties for her new film Unbroken following a chicken pox outbreak.

On Friday (12Dec14), the actress/director posted a video message online, revealing she has been diagnosed with the illness.

She said, "I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox.

"I will be home itching and missing everyone and I can't believe it 'cause this film means so much to me. I just can't believe it, but such is life. There it is and send everyone my love and hope everything goes well."

In the video, red spots can be seen on Jolie's face and chest.

A statement from Universal, the studio behind Unbroken, reads: "Angelina Jolie will be withdrawing from public events scheduled over the coming days due to a mild bout of chicken pox. She intends to resume her schedule and press engagements at the earliest opportunity."

The Unbroken premiere is scheduled for Los Angeles on Monday (15Dec14). The film, based on late athlete and World War II hero Louis Zamperini's life story, is released on Christmas Day (25Dec14).
