Andrew Garfield surprised audience members at a drag queen revue on Tuesday night (30May17) by donning a wig and lip syncing to Whitney Houston onstage.

The Hacksaw Ridge actor spent his night off from theater play Angels in America at the Troxy venue in London with his co-stars Russell Tovey and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett watching the RuPaul's Drag Race - Queens Werq The World Tour show, which features former and current castmembers of the hit TV series.

As part of an audience participation segment called Wig in a Box, Andrew got up onstage, donned a short curly brown wig and lip synced to Whitney's smash hit I'm Every Woman. Video footage shared on social media shows the actor, dressed in a striped white and grey T-shirt and black skinny jeans, strutting alongside the stage, dancing and throwing various diva moves and even performing a backflip.

The event's host, Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, shared a picture of herself with Andrew and Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox, who was also in the audience, on Instagram after the show.

"What a show, what a night! Thank you as always (England) YOU ARE MY HEART AND SOUL," she wrote. "Andrew Garfield, you are my new friend, I am SO proud of you for not just lip syncing Whitney tonight in a wig no less, but for opening your mind and heart to all it has to offer. @lavernecox you keep doing what you're doing, you are a trailblazer, a beauty and a (diamond) I LOVE YOU #werqtheworld #tour #soldout."

Audience members also seemed to be impressed with his performance, with one writing on Twitter, "Hello yes this is Andrew Garfield lip syncing for his life to Whitney Houston and yes it was great ok thank you bye" and another, who posted, "Andrew Garfield was in the RuPaul tour. I'm shook."
