Amy Winehouse raises a fortune from beyond the grave

Written by . Published: September 14 2012

Amy Winehouse has raised more than $368,000 for good causes from beyond the grave.

The Rehab hitmaker would have turned 29 on Friday (14Sep12) and officials at a charity foundation set up in the wake of her death last year (11) marked the occasion by announcing the staggering sum they have netted so far.

The cash will go to a range of good causes benefiting young people suffering ill health, addiction issues, poverty, or disability. Foundation bosses have already pledged a donation to a day centre for at-risk youngsters and funded a full scholarship at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, where Winehouse once studied.

They aim to raise $800,000 by the end of this year (12).

Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning at her home in London in July last year (11).
