Amy Schumer returns to Met Gala a year after labeling it 'punishment'

Amy Schumer returned to the Met Gala on Monday night (01Apr17), a year after calling the fashion event "punishment".

The comedienne previously hit headlines when she told radio host Howard Stern the star-studded event "felt like a punishment" last year (16).

"It's people doing an impression of having a conversation… I don't like the farce. We're dressed up like a bunch of f**king a*sholes.

"I have no interest in fashion. I don't care. I left earlier than I should have been allowed…I got to meet Beyonce and she was like, ‘Is this your first Met Gala?' And I was like, ‘It's my last!'"

So Amy's fans may have been surprised to see her walking the blue and cream carpet at the 2017 event in New York.

The 35-year-old star wore a black leather dress by Zac Posen which featured a corseted waist to highlight her slim figure, along with floral embellished trumpet sleeves. Her look was completed with slicked back hair and a dramatic smoky eye.

Amy wasn't the only star to make a return to the Met Gala after previously slamming it.

Girls actress Lena Dunham caused a stir when she recalled a story about being treated badly by athlete Odell Beckham, Jr.

"I was sitting next to Odell Beckham Jr., and it was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards... It wasn’t mean - he just seemed confused,” she wrote in her Lenny newsletter.

“The vibe was very much like, ‘Do I want to f--k it? Is it wearing a … yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo. I’m going to go back to my cell phone.’ It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie."

Despite these remarks, Lena was also in attendance at the 2017 gala, as well as Gwyneth Paltrow, who said she would never go again because the event was so "un-fun" in 2013.
