Amanda Seyfried and funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen brought production on epic movie musical Les Miserables to a halt when both fell ill.

The Mamma Mia! star passed out during an on-set acupuncture session to ease her aching neck and Sacha Baron Cohen lost his voice.

The pretty actress reveals, "There was a physiotherapist on the set, and my neck had been hurting for four days. I asked if she could work on it, and she said, 'I have needles'... She put two needles in my neck and two in my hand."

Minutes later, Amanda Seyfried was called to the set and she dashed out feeling woozy.

She recalls, "I woke with Russell (Crowe) holding my feet and Hugh (Jackman) massaging my neck."

Meanwhile, Sacha Baron Cohen showed up on set exhausted and unwell - and had to rest up before making a start in the film.

Director Tom Hooper tells The Hollywood Reporter, "He was not well when he came to us, and then he got really ill. He could not sing. We had to shut down for a few days until his voice came back."
