Amanda Bynes has license suspended

Actress Amanda Bynes' driving license has been suspended, one day after she was charged with two counts of hit-and-run for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident - twice.

The Hairspray star pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) after colliding with a police car in West Hollywood in April (12). The case was eventually thrown out as there were no independent witnesses to the incident.

But prosecutors in Los Angeles re-opened the case after she was accused of another smash and dash last month (Aug12).

The Hairspray star is due in court on 27 September (12) and faces a year behind bars if convicted, and now she has been banned from getting behind the wheel.

According to records at California's Department of Motor Vehicles, the actress' driving ban went into effect this week (begs03Sep12), reports the Los Angeles Times.
