Alicia Keys, Pink & Green Day wow with MTV VMAs sets
Green Day, Alicia Keys and Pink were among the stars who wowed viewers with their performances at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday (06Sep12).
Green Day invited fans to crowd around them onstage as they rocked out to their new single Let Yourself Go at the Staples Center.
It marked the punk trio's first appearance since scrapping a
concert in Italy on Sunday (02Sep12) after frontman Billie Joe
Armstrong was hospitalized with influenza and dehydration.
Keys debuted her new track Girl on Fire, which featured a rap from
VMA winner Nicki Minaj and some gymnastics from Team USA Olympics
star Gabby Douglas, who was namechecked in the song.
Pink also thrilled with a high-energy, acrobatic performance of her
new hit Blow Me (One Last Kiss), taking off into the rafters while
sitting on a pair of massive inflatable lips.
The show opened with a performance from Rihanna and also featured
sets from multiple Moonman winners One Direction, Frank Ocean and
rapper Lil Wayne, who closed his spot with 2Chainz by diving into
the audience.
Taylor Swift wrapped up the ceremony with her new single We Are
Never Ever Getting Back Together and also stagedived into the front
rows.
