Adele showed off her girl power onstage in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on Friday night (03Jun16) by staging a brief tribute to the Spice Girls.

During her show at the Ziggo Dome in the city, the Hello singer started a chant of "Spice Girls, Spice Girls..." after dancing for fans. She then sang a snippet of the girl band's 1997 hit Spice Up Your Life, much to the amusement of her fans.

As they cheered, she joked, "Oh, stop it! I'm not a Spice Girl!" before singing, "Colours of the world, spice up your life! Every boy and every girl, spice up your life! People of the world, spice up your life!"

The magical moment was uploaded to Twitter by an audience member, catching the eye of former Spice Girls star Melanie 'Mel C, Chisholm, who retweeted the video, adding three heart eyes emojis.

Mel C's former bandmate Emma Bunton, who was in the audience for the Hello singer's show, also captured the Spice Girls tribute on camera and posted it online.

Adele is in the middle of a world tour in support of her third album, 25. The 105-date concert tour will continue through Europe until mid-June before heading to North America in July (16).

The Oscar winner opened up about her love for the Spice Girls earlier this year (16) when she appeared in a Carpool Karaoke TV skit on funnyman and late-night host James Corden's show, telling him, "It was a huge moment in my life when they came out. It was these five ordinary girls that did so well."

Corden and Adele then sang along to the group's hit single Wannabe, after Adele revealed she often had Spice Girls-themed parties in her youth, adding Geri 'Ginger Spice' Halliwell was her favourite.
