A$AP Rocky hits back in assault lawsuit

Written by . Published: April 22 2013

Rapper A$Ap Rocky has urged a New York judge to dismiss an assault lawsuit relating to his arrest in the city last summer (12).

The hip-hop star, real name Rakim Mayers, is accused of brawling with Shenick Alcine in a Manhattan clothing store in July (12). The bust-up was being filmed by two photographers, who themselves became embroiled in a fight with Rocky, resulting in the 24 year old's arrest.

Alcine filed suit over the incident in December (12), claiming the rapper attacked him in the store, but Rocky has hit back, insisting any punches thrown at his accuser were in self-defense.

He is now requesting the legal action be tossed out of court, reports TMZ.com.

Rocky was charged with assault and robbery following the July (12) altercation after allegedly attempting to grab the snappers' camera following his fall-out with Alcine.

He struck a plea deal over those charges and was sentenced to three days of community service and fined $250 .
