50 Cent ordered to pay another $2 million to sex tape victim

Rap superstar 50 Cent has been ordered to hand over another $2 million to a woman who sued him over a leaked sex tape.

Earlier this month (Jul15), a jury in New York ruled the Candy Shop hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, should pay Lastonia Leviston $5 million after determining he illegally posted a sexually explicit video she made with her then-boyfriend online in 2009 as part of a spoof video.

He filed for bankruptcy three days later, but the case was allowed to continue as jury members considered punitive damages.

50 Cent was called to testify about his finances in court on Tuesday (21Jul15), when he admitted his extravagant lifestyle was all played up for the cameras, revealing he doesn't actually own any of his luxury cars or flashy jewelry.

He told the court, "The hip-hop culture is aspirational. It's like music videos... you see all these fancy cars but everything goes back to the dealership."

50 Cent also claimed his net worth is just $4.4 million - despite Forbes finance experts previously estimating his fortune at $155 million , while his attorney insisted his client's bank balance is quickly approaching zero as he works to settle his debts.

However, the rapper's poverty plea failed to convince the jury to let him off lightly and instead, they delivered a $2 million verdict against the star, taking his total owed to Leviston to $7 million .

After the verdict was delivered on Friday afternoon (24Jul15), Leviston, an ex-girlfriend of 50's rap rival Rick Ross, told the New York Post, "Justice and vindication. I think that's what was done today."

She added, "I hope he learned a lesson. I hope he grows up."

50 Cent's attorney reveals they are planning to appeal the judgment to "reduce the size of the award".
