50 Cent hospitalised with stomach virus

50 Cent is recovering from a "stomach virus", according to his collaborator Dj Drama.

The In Da Club hitmaker was admitted to a medical centre for an undisclosed surgical procedure on Wednesday (16May12) and he shared photos of himself lying in a hospital bed with fans on his Twitter.com page as he waited to go into the operating room.

His pal DJ Drama has now explained the reason for 50's illness, simply telling XXLMag.com the rapper is battling a "stomach virus".

But he has assured fans the star will make a rapid recovery and will be back in the spotlight soon to promote their new mixtape, Gangsta Grillz: The Lost Tape.

Drama adds, "First they wanted to keep it quiet, but he’s not a quiet guy. He should be cool. It’s nothing that serious. We still gonna do our promo run stuff (sic)."

And 50 Cent appears to be in high spirits following the operation after receiving a concerned call from his mentor Eminem.

In a tweet on Thursday (17May12), he writes, "I'm feeling better today I think I'm gonna get out of the hospital soon. EMINEM called me last night I love him that's my boy."
