50 Cent brushes off financial troubles on social media

Written by . Published: July 14 2015

Rapper 50 Cent has taken his bankruptcy filing in good humour by joking about his wealth on Instagram.com.

The In Da Club hitmaker hit headlines this week (beg13Jul15) when it was revealed he had filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection just days after he was ordered to pay $5 million ($3.3 million) in damages to Lavonia Leviston for leaking her sex tape.

The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, has spoken out the filing, insisting he is still doing fine financially and was simply "taking precautions that any other good businessperson would take in this situation".

On Monday (13Jul15), he also proved the news had not affected him by posting a picture on Instagram showing him with a group of friends, including singer Chris Brown, at a party.

In a caption alongside the image, he wrote, "I can't remember a year that I had this much fun. Just good energy every were I go (sic)."

Jackson, who regularly posted pictures flaunting his wealth, poked fun at the bankruptcy news in a later picture in which he is stood in front of a two-seater economy car, and he adds, "Times are hard out here LMAO (laughing my a** off)."

Pictures obtained by TMZ.com also prove 50 Cent is not short of money as he was spotted with a wad of hundred dollar bills in his trouser pocket at a club in Atlantic City, New Jersey last week (ends12Jul15).
