Born: Usher Raymond IV

October 14, 1978

Dallas, Texas

This R&B superstar started out singing in his church choir and entering local talent shows, but his family quickly recognized his gift and moved to Atlanta to help him pursue a career as a musical artist. After competing on Star Search, Usher caught the eye of a record company representative and soon after was signed to the label. From there he worked with Diddy on several tracks of his debut album, which was released when he was still only fifteen!

Usher continued to rise on the charts, befriending and working with Jermaine Dupri on his sophomore album My Way, which led to his first Grammy Award nomination. Soon after, Usher took some time to experiment with acting, appearing in films such as She's All That, The Faculty, and Light It Up. Returning to music, Usher's third album earned him two Grammy wins, but it was his fourth album, Confessions, that burned up the charts and sold nearly 19 million copies with hits such as "Yeah," "Burn," and "Confessions Part II." With all this success, this singer-songwriter knows how to kick back and party in style too. Young Hollywood even had an all access pass into Usher's wild birthday bash! He may be livin' the fine life, but he's definitely earned it!

FUN FACTS:

Early in his career he performed on tours with Janet Jackson and Mary J. Blige.

Made his acting debut on the UPN television show "Moesha."

Has two kids with wife Tameka Foster.
