SHAWN JOHNSON BIO

SHAWN JOHNSON

Sean Johnson was born on January 19, 1992, in Des Moines, Iowa. She began her gymnastics career at just three years old, training non-stop in hopes of one day earning a spot on the U.S Olympic Team. Finally, after years of grueling training, Shawn made the 2008 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team and helped bring home a silver medal.

With her newfound fame after the Olympic Games, Shawn made several appearances on shows like "The Tonight Show with David Letterman," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", "The Today Show," and "Oprah." In 2008, she was a guest star on an episode of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." Sean was also a contestant and eventual winner of "Dancing with the Stars", proving her talents go beyond gymnastics. Just one year after the Olympics, Shawn was nominated for a Teen Choice Award. She also lends her famous name to the support of a charity called "Frosted Pink." The sky is the limit for this tiny tumbling teen and we can't wait to see what she will do next!

FUN FACTS:

Her favorite event is the balance beam.

Her biggest gymnast role models have always been Kim Zmeskal and Shannon Miller.

She missed her Senior prom because she was on the show "Dancing with the Stars," so her partner threw her a "mini" prom for just the two of them.
