SELENA GOMEZ

Selena Marie Gomez was born on July 22, 1992 in New York City, New York but raised in Grand Prairie, Texas. This young sweetheart started her acting career at the early age of seven. She began with a role in the TV show "Barney & Friends" in season 7 and 8.  She landed a small role in the movie Spy Kids 3D, but her big brake came when Disney held their first worldwide casting search.  Disney cast her for appearances in “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and "Hannah Montana."  In 2007, Selena was cast as the lead role of Alex Russo in Disney's “Wizards of Waverly Place”.  Young Hollywood had the chance to talk with Selena recently at Todd Goldman’s Stupid Art Show in Los Angeles where she told us about what she does for fun in between her busy schedule.  This young starlet was also featured on our Verge to Emerge list.
In 2009, Selena released her debut album title Kiss & Tell. When Selena isn’t working on set or behind a microphone, she is usually caught hanging with BFF Demi Lovato.  The pair have starred in a Disney Channel Original Movie called Princess Protection Program.  This girl is just beginning to shine and she will continue to do so for years to come!

Selena was named after the Tejano music singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.

She appeared in TV commercials for Wal Mart and TGI Fridays before her acting career took off.
