Born: February 12, 1988
From frat boy to rapper, Mike Posner has come a long way in less than two years.
The son of a Jewish attorney father and a Catholic pharmacist mother, Mike attended Duke University, where he partnered with Don Cannon and DJ Benzi to create his first mixtape, "A Matter of Time", which was an underground hit. His second mixtape, "One Foot Out the Door", boosted his popularity even further.
Mike signed with a major record label in July 2009, and then returned to Duke in the fall. He managed to tour on the weekends, record his debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, and live the college life all at the same time.
Mike's first single, "Cooler Than Me," raced up the Billboard Hot 100 chart to become a top ten hit. The second single, "Please Don't Go", quickly climbed up the charts as well.
His unique style combines rap with pop hooks, with some electronica thrown in. We can't wait to hear the album, and look forward to seeing what this prodigy will do next!
Mike was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity at Duke.
He sings the slogan of the "S-o S-o G-Double-O-D Good" KFC commercial.
Mike sent a CD of his songs along with his application essay to Duke.
