Born: June 21, 1985
Music came naturally to Kris as he began playing the viola in elementary school. He also taught himself to play the guitar at age 13. In high school, Kris was a member of the orchestra, eventually earning a position in the Arkansas all-state orchestra. Kris went on to attend the University of Central Arkansas, majoring in business. In 2007, Kris produced his own album, Brand New Shoes, with college friends and band-mates. 600 copies were made and given out to friends and family. The following year he married his high school sweetheart and former University of Arkansas homecoming queen, Katy O'Connell. Kris decided to take his final go at his music career by trying out of the 2009 season of "American Idol." He became a finalist and quickly moved to the top. Kris was victorious over favored contestant and good friend Adam Lambert.
After winning Idol, Kris signed with Jive Records and released his self-titled album in November 2009. His first single "No Boundaries" peaked at #18 on the U.S. Billboard charts. We expect big things from this talented young artist!
