KAT VON D
Katherine von Drachenberg, more commonly known as Kat Von D, was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. At the age of four, her and her family moved to Los Angeles, settling in Colton, California for the rest of her childhood. At the young age of 14, Kat got her first tattoo, an old English “J” on her ankle to represent a love gone-by. Soon after Kat took on drawing until her friends asked her to tattoo them, a difficult task that she felt a natural affinity to.
Two years later, Kat was working at Sin City Tattoo, a local tattoo parlor. A couple tattoo parlors later and Kat ended up at True Tattoo in Hollywood working with Clay Decker and Chris Garver. Since then When Darren Brass hurt his elbow, Kat Von D was asked to appear on “Miami Ink” making continued guest appearances until she had a falling out with a cast member. She then opened her own tattoo shop in Hollywood called High Voltage Tattoo with her own TV show “LA Ink.” In January of 2009 Kat published her a book of her artwork and tattoos entitled “High Voltage Tattoo.”
Her parents are from Argentina
