JORDIN SPARKS Born: December 22nd, 1989 Jordin Brianna Sparks is an American Pop and R&B singer, songwriter, and actress. Her rise to fame began after she became the winner of the sixth season "American Idol". Born in Phoenix, AZ to Jodi Weidmann Sparks and former New York Giants defensive back Phillippi Sparks, Jordin began singing at a very young age and as soon as she was eligible she auditioned for "American Idol...twice in one season. After being passed over by the judges at the Phoenix auditions she decided to try again and hoped a plane to the Seattle auditions just a few weeks later. Jordin was only 17 years old when she was crowned the "American Idol," making her the youngest contestant to ever win the popular show. Jordin has shown tremendous amounts of success as her first self-titled album reached platinum status and sold 2 millions copies worldwide. She also won an American Music Award in 2008 and was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for her duet, "No Air," with Chris Brown.
FUN FACTS: She was the first non-southerner and first mixed race person to win "American Idol". She was home schooled after freshmen year of high school. Her nickname is Jo Jo.
