Jay Baruchel was born on April 2, 1982 in Ontario, Canada. The actor made his first television appearance on the show "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" and had a few other small roles on television including a role on the children’s show "Popular Mechanics for Kids" with Elisha Cuthbert.
In 2004, Jay made an impact in Hollywood with the film "Million Dollar Baby". Jay Then, in 2007 Jay scored a role in "Knocked Up" with Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl. From there, the only place for Jay to go was up. He starred in other films such as "Tropic Thunder", "Real Time", "How to Train Your Dragon", and "The Sorcerer's Apprentice".
Jay announced his engagement to girlfriend Alison Pill during his acceptance speech at the 2011 Genie awards.
He started taking acting classes at the age of 12.
