ICE CUBE BIO
Born: June 15, 1969 He started his music career by collaborating with Dr. Dre in the group C.I.A. They later expanded to form N.W.A. when MC Ren and DJ Yella joined up. In 1990, Ice Cube released his solo debut, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, which was an immediate hit and was intstrumental in bringing rap into mainstream society. The album was charged with being controversial, and his follow-up, "Death Certificate" caused even more waves.
Ice Cube was accused by critics of being a misogynist, as well as anti-semitic and anti-white, but his fan base continued to grow with six subsequent albums. The most recent, Raw Footage, was released in 2008. After being challenged by John Singleton to write a screenplay, Ice Cube wrote and starred in the hit Friday, which spawned two sequels, Next Friday and Friday After Next. His was also involved in the ESPN documentary, Straight Outta L.A. about the relationship between the Raiders' time in L.A. and the gangster rap scene there. FUN FACTS: He had his name legally changed to Ice Cube. Ice Cube was a potential Razzie nominee in 2006 for his role in xXx: State of the Union, but he did not receive a nomination. His favorite movie is Jaws.
