Garrett Hedlund has taken Hollywood by storm, starring in films such as "Friday Night Lights," "Troy," "TRON:Legacy," and most recently "Country Strong." Garrett was born in northern Minnesota and grew up on a cattle farm a half-hour from the Canadian border. His father encouraged him to perform in church Christmas pageants and he played trombone and sang in the choir.
At 14, when his parents divorced, he moved with his mother to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he spent his high school years. He began taking private acting classes while in high school and would read screenplays of older films, watch those films on video, and then pretend he was auditioning for one of the roles in the film.
He spent three years working as a model for clients like LL Bean and Teen magazine. Garrett doubled up on credits and graduated from high school a semester early and immediately packed his bags and headed for Hollywood. A month later, a Warner Bros. casting agent thought he looked enough like Brad Pitt to cast him as his cousin in "Troy." He was just 18 when he made his film debut in "Troy."
He enjoys staying home and cooking pasta.
He is a huge fan of punk rock.
He modeled for Teen Magazine before acting.
