Felicia Lily Dobson was born in Ontario, Canada to a Irish/Canadian mother and a Jamaican father. She began sending out demo tapes when she was 11 years old and started writing her own songs at the age of 14. After catching the eye (and ear) of some Def Jam executives at a showcase, Fefe was signed. She released her self-titled record in 2003, which debuted at number 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums Chart.
Fefe promoted her album by appearing on "TRL", "American Dreams", being part of the "Got Milk?" campaign and performing as Justin Timberlake’s opening act on his European tour. The singles for her second album, Sunday Love, did not make the charts, and Fefe was dropped from her record label a few days before the album was scheduled for release. Many of the songs on the unreleased album were covered by other artists, including Selena Gomez and Jordin Sparks.
In 2010, Fefe decided to create a third album, Joy. She made it under her manager’s record label, and the growing buzz around her caused her original label to re-sign her. Both labels worked on the album. Fefe is living proof to never give up on your dreams!
Fefe was nominated for two Juno awards in 2005.
Her biggest musical inspiration was Michael Jackson.
