ENRIQUE IGLESIAS BIO

ENRIQUE EGLESIASENRIQUE IGLESIAS
Born: May 8, 1975
Madrid, Spain

This swoon-worthy Spaniard was one of the most popular recording artists in Latin America before crossing over into the mainstream American market in 1999. His first hit single "Bailamos" was featured on the Wild Wild West soundtrack and quickly reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His first album in English, Enrique, was popular with fans of the Ricky Martin pop/Latin style. Another single from the album, "Be With You" was another number one hit.

Many cross-over musicians are unable to match the popularity of their debut album again, but Enrique's sophomore effort, Escape, sold even more copies than his first album; it is his biggest commercial success to date. He co-wrote the entire album and the single "Hero" became an international hit. In 2010 Enrique released Euphoria, a bilingual album with half the songs in Spanish and half in English, the latter including hit single "I Like It" featuring Pitbull.

Enrique also has shown both an interest in and talent for acting; he appeared in Once Upon a Time in Mexico with Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek and Johnny Depp. He has also guest-starred on the CBS hits "Two and a Half Men" and "How I Met Your Mother".

FUN FACTS:

By 2010 Enrique had dated tennis star Anna Kournikova for almost a decade.

He has appeared in commercials for Pepsi and Doritos.
