Following a drug addiction, DJ AM found sobriety and he committed himself to his music. He was quickly beginnig to establish himself as a powerful musician and entrepeneur.

In September 2008, DJ AM was involved in a plane crash during takeoff in South Carolina that seriously injured him and frequent collaborator Travis Barker, while killing four others. The crash left him badly burnt on his hands and part of his head.
