DJ AMDJ AM

Born: March 30, 1973 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, is a Philadelphia born disc jockey that was a member of the rock band Crazy Town. He had a mixed history and a tragic ending. The talented musician put his spin on several tracks for notable acts including Madonna, Will Smith and Papa Roach. Following a drug addiction, DJ AM found sobriety and he committed himself to his music. He was quickly beginnig to establish himself as a powerful musician and entrepeneur.

In September 2008, DJ AM was involved in a plane crash during takeoff in South Carolina that seriously injured him and frequent collaborator Travis Barker, while killing four others. The crash left him badly burnt on his hands and part of his head.

Sadly, DJ AM was found dead in his New York City apartment in August 2009; the victim of an apparent accidental drug overdose. Despite the tabloid rumors and setbacks, DJ AM did persevere through a number of rough patches, always clinging to the unique music that meant so much to him as well as the public.

Young Hollywood had the pleasure of meeting with DJ AM on the red carpet at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and we spoke to him about why he loves working with Travis Barker.

FUN FACTS:

  • He hit mainstream when he was asked to DJ Melissa Etheridge's 40th birthday in 2001.
