Britney Spears is the ultimate pop star! From her humble beginnings in Kentwood, Louisiana, Spears has proven that with hard work, catchy tunes and a rockin’ bod, dreams really do come true. Born on Dec. 2, 1981, Spears was part of the Mickey Mouse Club generation that bred a host of young superstars. In 1999, Britney released her debut album, Baby One More Time. The album premiered at number one on the Billboard Top 20 and propelled Spears into stardom, establishing herself as the quintessential pop icon of our generation.
She went on to release three more albums, all of which premiered at number one on the charts. Spears is ranked as the eighth best-selling female artist of all time, and has sold an estimated 83 million records worldwide. Spears has worked with everyone in the industry from Madonna to Timbaland. While her music career is far from over, she has taken on everything from hosting SNL to starring in the feature film Crossroads, and of course starring in the Pepsi commercial which premiered during the 2001 Superbowl.
After an extremely public break-up with long-time boyfriend and reigning pop king, Justin Timberlake in 2002, Spears’ life really got ‘crazy.’ However, after multiple trials and tribulations concerning her personal life, Britney has begun to rebuild her image and lifestyle. But let’s face it, no matter how many times she says “oops I did it again” we’ll never stop asking her to “hit us baby one more time!”
