It was Avril's mom who first spotted the popstar's talent when she was only a tiny tot singing along to church songs. By the time she was fourteen, Avril won a competition to sing along with fellow Canadian Shania Twain on her first major concert tour. It wasn't long before she was writing songs and recording for her debut album. The album, Let Go, was released in 2002 and Avril became an overnight sensation. With catchy tunes and a pop-rock and punk sound, the album was an international success and was eventually nominated for eight Grammy awards.

From there, Avril continued writing music and in 2004 she released her sophomore album Under My Skin, which had a more alternative sound but was just as successful. While continuing with music, Avril has also extended her career to include film and fashion. She lent her voice to the animated film Over the Hedge and started her own clothing line, Abbey Dawn. Young Hollywood got an exclusive look at the new line, which is designed by Avril herself and is an affordable look that reflects her own personal style. Talk about multi-talented!
