Alex Pettyfer was born and raised in England. His father was an actor and his mother was a former model. His half-brother was one of the top-ranked junior tennis players in England.
When he was 8 years old and shopping with his mom in a Ralph Lauren store in New York, he was approached in the elevator by a man, who gave him his card and told them to call him, stating, "Your kid should model for me." His mother threw the number in the trash. It wasn't until later that Alex realized that the guy in the elevator was Ralph Lauren himself.
Alex made a splash in Hollywood in February of 2011 with the high-profile film: "I Am Number Four." Pettyfer starred as John, an extraordinary teen posing as a normal high school student in attempt to deceive his enemy seeking his destruction.
He finished school in July 2006, at the age of sixteen.
Played Willy Wonka in a school production of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory when he was younger.
